  • Seasonal position at the Talkeetna ranger station

    The Walter Harper Talkeetna Ranger station is hiring a seasonal Recreation Fee Technician. This front desk position assists in climbing registration, issuing park passes and answering visitor questions through mid-September. Applications are accepted through USA Jobs by submitting a two-page resume and completing the local hire questionnaire. The application period is open through 7:59 pm on April 8th.     Talkeetna Library hosts the last Tween Page to Screen program for the season on Saturday, April 11th from 5-7pm. The book Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene will be discussed and then the movie will be compared to the book. Tweens ages 9-12 are welcome.

  • Soggy Sneaker 5K Run – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts the Soggy Sneaker 5K Run as part of the Banff Film Festival festivities on Saturday, April 11th. The run starts at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar at 12pm, winding through some soggy spring snow along the Chase Trail, and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Registration is now open for this is a fundraiser which supports Denali Arts Council. More information and registration at denaliartscouncil.org.

The PTA supports the teachers and students of Talkeetna Elementary School with a wide variety of programs centered around healthy lifestyles, art and education.     There is a Caswell RSA 15 Road board meeting meeting today (Monday, April 13th) at 6:30PM at Sheep Creek Lodge to discuss the proposed change in the mill rate and how this will affect RSA funding.
