  • Mother’s Day Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    The Denali Arts Council's Music Academy presents a Mother's Day Concert on Sunday, May 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The program features the Rhythm and Red Shoes Ensemble, Desperate Measures and the Community Choir, performing a mix of classical and pop pieces. Doors open at 3:30pm and the concert starts at 4pm.   • Radio Journalism Afterschool Club

    Radio Journalism Afterschool Club
    Su Valley Jr/Sr High School

    KTNA and Su Valley High School are collaborating to start a Radio Journalism Afterschool Club for the remainder of the school year. This Club is open to all Su Valley students, from middle to high school level. The Club will meet every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15pm at Su Valley High School beginning March 4th. If you are a student or parent and would like to learn more or become involved, please reach out to Teacher Cory O'Dell or School Librarian Tracy Steere.

  • Su Valley Band Lab Show Case and Black Water Railroad – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council presents a showcase of the after-school program, Su Valley Band Lab, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, May 15th . Blackwater Railroad Company hosted this year's Band Lab. The community is invited to enjoy the presentation of the student's newly acquired skills and stay after for a Blackwater Railroad Concert.   • Car Wash – Su-Valley High School Fundraiser

    There will be a car wash at Su-Valley High School this Saturday, May 16th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. All dirty cars and trucks are welcome. Proceeds from the car wash will go towards transporting Su-Valley athletes to sporting events.

    KTNA is hiring! We are currently looking for a full-time News Producer and part-time Development Coordinator. The News Producer writes local stories and oversees the work of staff and volunteer reporters. The Development Coordinator is responsible for KTNA's membership and underwriting programs as well as coordination of events. Find the complete job descriptions at ktna.org.   • Seeking Volunteers & Ideas for Discovery Days at Talkeetna Elementary

    Talkeetna Elementary School is hosting Discovery Days on Monday, May 18th through Wednesday, May 20th, from 9:00 to 11:15 AM, and they are looking for community volunteers. Discovery Days give students a chance to explore hands-on activities—from art and music to outdoor skills, STEM, and local business experiences.   • Commencement of the Susitna Valley High School Class of 2026

    All are welcome to attend the commencement of the Susitna Valley High School Class of 2026 on Tuesday, May 19th. The commencement will be held in the gym at the high school. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the ceremony begins at 7:00. Refreshments will be served by the Talkeetna Bachelors Society.

    The SpongeBob Musical will be showing at Glenn Massay Theater on the campus of Mat-Su College from May 21st through June 6th.     Denali Arts Council’s annual Talkeetna Art Festival is this Saturday & Sunday, May 23rd through the 24th beginning at noon at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. There will be live music on two stages, aerial performances, and art vendors with demos and workshops. This is an indoor/outdoor family friendly event.   • Memorial Day Service honoring Veterans

    The Myron F (Ace) Ebling Memorial VFW Post and Auxiliary # 3836 is hosting a Memorial Day Service honoring Veterans who served in US armed forces on Monday. The service is on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th at 11:00am at the Talkeetna Cemetery. A pot-luck will follow at the VFW Post on Veteran’s Way immediately after the service. All are welcome.

  • Emergency Preparedness Fair – CERT

    Willow Community Center

    The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors.
