Upper Susitna Soil and Water Conservation District revival meeting
Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center 16463 E. Helena Ave. / Mile 98.5 Parks Hwy., Sunshine, AlaskaUpper Susitna Soil and Water Conservation District is having a meeting on Saturday, April 25th from 2 to 5 pm at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center. The district is being revived to resume its role in the community with initiatives in salmon and wildlife habitat stewardship, trails, AK agriculture and local food production, invasive species and providing public information. Sheldon Community Arts HangarWe’re taking a trip down memory lane! KTNA is hosting a casual community gathering featuring a screening of the KTNA Millennium Concert from April 22, 2000. This footage was recently digitized, and we are excited to bring it back to the community 26 years after the original performance. We’ll be celebrating with a potluck, you are welcome to bring something to share… or just bring yourself! That’s from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Volunteers needed for Summer Reading Program
The Talkeetna Public Library is looking for a volunteers for their Summer Reading Program. This is a weekly program with different weekly themes. The first day is Thursday, May 28, beginning with programming at 11:15am followed by Lunch on the Lawn. If you would like to present a program to the younger children, to the tweens and teens, or to adults, please call the library. at 907-861-7645.

Competitive Pickle Ball – Community Enrichment – Talkeetna Elementary PTA
Talkeetna Elementary SchoolTalkeetna Elementary PTA hosts Competitive Pickleball for knowledgeable players seeking competitive bouts from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesdays. Attendees will rotate through games of four players at a time, equipment is available if you do not have your own. Wednesday evening pickleball is held at Talkeetna Elementary School's gym, play will move outside to the hockey rink when weather and temperatures permit. Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program is accepting applications from high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness. The deadline is May 1st. Talkeetna-Trapper Creek Birdathon
The 36th annual Talkeetna-Trapper Creek Birdathon starts Friday May 1st, at 6 pm, and continue until 6 pm on Saturday, May 2nd. Area residents and their guests are welcome to participate by identifying as many species of birds as can be found in the count circle during the 24 hour period. You can go birding by yourself or with family or friends, traveling “green” or using a vehicle. Participants gather around a fire in the evening on Saturday, location to be announced.
