    The Friends of the Talkeetna Library host computer classes every 2nd and 4th Friday from 1 to 3pm at the Talkeetna Public Library. The next class is on March 13th and covers Basic Internet.     The Denali Arts Council is showing the film The Last King at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, March 13th.  This R-rated movie takes place in 1204 in Norway, where a couple of ski champions try to protect a royal baby. Costumes are encouraged. Doors at 7:30, Film starts at 8pm.

  • Seeking Pie Donations

    The Talkeetna Library is seeking pie donations for Pi Day on Saturday, March 14th. If you would like to donate a pie, please contact them at (907)861-7645. Pi is a mathematical term but the Talkeetna Library will not be solving geometry problems, they will be serving Pie from 11am to 5pm, or until the pie runs out.

  • Denali Nordic Ski Club seeking volunteer ski waxers

    Denali Nordic Ski Club is seeking volunteer ski waxers to help wax skis at the Oosik Race Start on Saturday March 14th from 9am to 12pm, or any portion of that time. This is a fundraiser for the Junior Nordic Ski Program. Please call 907-230-8662 for more information.

  • Oosik Classic Ski Race – Denali Nordic Ski Club

    Mile 11 Gravel Pit Talkeetna

    The Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts the annual Oosik Classic Ski Race this Saturday, March 14th. The race start is at the mile 11 gravel pit off the Talkeetna Spur Road. Jr. Oosik starts at 10:00am, the 25K Race starts at 12:15pm and the 50K Race begins at 12pm. Racers may be crossing the finish line by the Boat Launch off of F Street in East Talkeetna between 1 and 6 pm. Please use caution when driving in race areas. Shuttles will run from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. Find more information, including shuttle stops at denalinordicskiclub.org.

    Talkeetna Library hosts their Tween Page to Screen program on Saturday, March 14 from 5 to 7pm. The movie this month is Inkheart, based on the book by Cornelia Funke. Tweens aged 9 to 12 are invited to discuss the book, enjoy the movie and share some pizza Pie.

The theme is Potholes and Promises, Stories of bumps in the road, where they lead and how you kept going. The stories need to be true, written in the first person and seven minutes long.     The Upper Susitna Seniors are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center on Friday, March 20th beginning at 6pm. All are welcome to purchase a dinner of spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds go towards the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center and helping to cover the cost of a new septic system for the building. For more information you may call (907)733-6200.
