  • Tween Page to Screen – Talkeetna Library

    Talkeetna Public Library Talkeetna

    Talkeetna Library hosts the last Tween Page to Screen program for the season on Saturday, April 11th from 5-7pm. The book Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene will be discussed and then the movie will be compared to the book. Tweens ages 9-12 are welcome.

  • Soggy Sneaker 5K Run – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts the Soggy Sneaker 5K Run as part of the Banff Film Festival festivities on Saturday, April 11th. The run starts at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar at 12pm, winding through some soggy spring snow along the Chase Trail, and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. The PTA supports the teachers and students of Talkeetna Elementary School with a wide variety of programs centered around healthy lifestyles, art and education.     There is a Caswell RSA 15 Road board meeting meeting today (Monday, April 13th) at 6:30PM at Sheep Creek Lodge to discuss the proposed change in the mill rate and how this will affect RSA funding.     The Talkeetna Sunshine Gardening Club is starting up again at the Talkeetna Library. They will be meeting to discuss Transplanting Seedlings today, Tuesday April 14th at 5pm. The next meeting times and dates will also be discussed. The yearly Seed Catalog is stocked. A wide variety of seeds are available for taking and planting in your gardens.     Denali Arts Council hosts The Singing Zoologist at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, April 16th. The Singing Zoologist, Lucas Miller, blends music, puppets and projected videos to keep audiences laughing, moving, singing and learning. This show family-friendly show is suitable for all ages. There will be pizza available, by the slice until it runs out, to make this a dinner-and-a-show type of event.     Denali Education Center and Jessica Stevens Community Foundation host their annual Earth Day Celebration and Nonprofit Fair on Saturday, April 18th from 11am until 3pm at Denali Education Center's Susitna Hall in Talkeetna. Featuring presentations on recycling and food waste, kids' activities and projects, and food.
