Denali Arts Council hosts a concert with Matt Heckler on Sunday, March 2nd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Matt is a multi-instrumentalist known for his raw, soulful take on Appalachian and early bluegrass music, with influences from Eastern Europe and Ireland. Talkeetna Public Library offers Reading Mentors Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:15pm. This is the last session of the school year.

Willow Area Community Organization (WACO) meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Willow Community Center. The next meeting is tonight (March 5th). More information is available online at waco-ak.org.

The Susitna Community Council meets on Thursday, March 6th at 6:00 pm at the Upper Susitna Senior & Community Center. Denali Nordic Ski Club presents the film, The Last King, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday March 7th. This R-rated film begins at 7:30pm, after Oosik Registration. This film screening is a folk tale set in 1206 Norway, about ski champions who protect a child with a royal following.

Talkeetna Elementary PTA is hosting a bake sale at the Oosik start line from 10am until 1pm on Saturday, March 8th. In addition to individually wrapped baked goods and healthy trail snacks, they will have water, hot chocolate, and electrolytes.

The Roland Roberts Band will be performing at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, March 8th. This is an all ages show featuring parts of folk, Americana, and country music. The documentary Free for All: Inside The Public Library will be shown at the Talkeetna Public Library on Thursday, March 13th, beginning at 5:30 pm. The documentary illustrates how public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere. All our welcome.

Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails (MUTT) are hosting a Community Campfire Gathering on Sunday, March 16th from 2 to 4pm, at the Talkeetna Lakes Park Stadium off of Comsat Road. All are welcome to bring their dogs, hit the trails and and share stories with fellow trail users. There will be an info booth and a warming station. Due to current trail conditions, the 3rd Annual Rich Crain Classic is moving to a dry land race later in the spring. More information at talkeetnamutt.org.
