    The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is hosting a community meeting to discuss commercial guide permitting in Talkeetna Lakes Park and the surrounding area. The meeting is on Thursday, December 18th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Talkeetna Public Library. This meeting is an opportunity for residents, permit applicants, and other interested parties to share input on long-term guidelines and concerns related to commercial use in the park.   • Oosik Trailmeister needed – Denali Nordic Ski Club

    The Denali Nordic Ski Club is hosting the Oosik Classic on Saturday, March 14, 2026. An Oosik Trailmeister is needed to work with Oosik Committee and the Head Trail Groomer to Assemble and supervise a volunteer trail crew to layout the race courses for a 25K and a 50K, design maps, place signage, design and construct the Start/Finish areas, clean up after the race, participate in post-RACE debriefing, and keep track of ongoing expenses. The option of a part-time or assistant Trailmeister to work with past Trailmeister is a possibility for the right candidate.

    The Upper Susitna Food Pantry's Christmas Box Distribution is on Saturday, December 20th. This will be a drive-thru event held at the Upper Susitna Food Pantry from 12 to 4pm.

    Denali Arts Council hosts Holiday in Whoville's Interactive Dramatic Reading of the Grinch Stories at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday and Saturday, December 19th and 20th. Attendees are welcome to come dressed in their Whoville best. They are also welcome to bring an ornament to add to the tree, or arrive early to make one - craft supplies will be available.
