  • Rug Hooking Workshop – Denali Arts Council

    Talkeetna Roadhouse

    Denali Arts Council hosts a beginners rug hooking workshop for Fiber February. This event will be held at the Talkeetna Roadhouse on Sunday, February 22nd at 2PM. All materials are provided. For more information you may send a message to Sandy at tkb@alaska.net.

  • Su Dog 300 – Sled Dog Race – Soup Dog

    Willow Community Center

    The Su Dog 300 Sled Dog Race continues through February 24th. Soup Dog is on Monday, February 23rd starting at 5pm at the Willow Community Center. This is a community event and soup competition. It's timed so people will come together, enjoy food, and possibly see the first few mushers cross the finish line. All are welcome to attend and cheer on the mushers. You can follow the mushers with the Live Tracker and learn more at sudog300.org.

  • Train service changes – Alaska Railroad

    Due to the extreme temperatures in Fairbanks Thursday evening to Friday morning, the Alaska Railroad is canceling the Thursday/Friday Aurora Winter Train.
    Today (Thursday), they are running the Hurricane Turn schedule. Light food service from the Bistro will be available.
    On Friday, there will be no train service available.

    As of now, the Aurora train is still scheduled for Saturday northbound and Sunday southbound.

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

    The Friends of the Talkeetna Library host computer classes every 2nd and 4th Friday from 1 to 3pm at the Talkeetna Public Library through May 8th. The next class is on February 27th and will cover Computer Basics. The schedule including topics can be found in the event on KTNA's community calendar.   • Raising Spirits Festival – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council presents their annual fundraiser, Raising Spirits, on Saturday, February 28th from 4 to 7pm. This elegant event features artisan-crafted cocktails from five Alaskan distilleries, catered food, aerial performances, and a silent auction. Proceeds raised will support the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar and the Emmila A. Denny Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available at denaliartscouncil.org.

  • Teen Page to Screen – Talkeetna Public Library

    Talkeetna Library hosts the Teen Page to Screen book club on Saturday, February 28th at 6pm. They are discussing the book; The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness and watching the movie based on this book; Chaos Walking. Snacks and treats will be served.     The Seed Catalog at the Talkeetna Public Library is up and running for this season. The main selection right now is herbs. There are seed starting trays, pamphlets and books with helpful information. Seeds for flowers and vegetables should be ready soon,

This 7-week long cooking program is open to 4th and 5th graders and homeschool students are welcome. Transportation from Talkeetna Elementary School to the library will be provided by Sunshine Transit.
