    We’re taking a trip down memory lane! KTNA is hosting a casual community gathering featuring a screening of the KTNA Millennium Concert from April 22, 2000. This footage was recently digitized, and we are excited to bring it back to the community 26 years after the original performance. We’ll be celebrating with a potluck, you are welcome to bring something to share… or just bring yourself! That’s from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. We look forward to sharing this blast from the past with you all!

  • DEA National Drug Take-Back Day – Matanuska-Susitna Borough

    The DEA National Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday, April 25th. There are two drop off locations available in the Susitna Valley from 10am to 2pm - at the Wasilla and Palmer Fred Meyers. All are welcome to drop off unused or expired medications in original packaging or a generic bag, without your personal information. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain tightly sealed in the original container. Syringes and medical waste cannot be accepted. Turning in unused medications reduces prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning, and protects local waterways and the environment.     The Talkeetna Library is celebrating National Library Week with a variety of activities each day. Everyone is invited to “Find Your Joy" at the Talkeetna Public Library and join in the activities. Look for library staff handing out random surprises.   • Upper Susitna Soil and Water Conservation District revival meeting

    Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center 16463 E. Helena Ave. / Mile 98.5 Parks Hwy., Sunshine, Alaska

    Upper Susitna Soil and Water Conservation District is having a meeting on Saturday, April 25th from 2 to 5 pm at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center. The district is being revived to resume its role in the community with initiatives in salmon and wildlife habitat stewardship, trails, AK agriculture and local food production, invasive species and providing public information.   • Scholarship opportunity – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program supports high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness, helping to build a stronger health workforce in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and beyond.
    The application period is open and the deadline is May 1st. Eligible students must reside in zip codes 99676, 99688, or 99683.

    The Denali Arts Council's Dudes and Divas present the musical experience Copa Denali, Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Watch local performers singing classic country favorites. Audience members are encouraged to dress for the theme. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm.
