Mother’s Day Concert – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarThe Denali Arts Council's Music Academy presents a Mother's Day Concert on Sunday, May 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The program features the Rhythm and Red Shoes Ensemble, Desperate Measures and the Community Choir, performing a mix of classical and pop pieces. Doors open at 3:30pm and the concert starts at 4pm. Sheldon Community Arts HangarDenali Arts Council presents a showcase of the after-school program, Su Valley Band Lab, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, May 15th . Blackwater Railroad Company hosted this year's Band Lab. The community is invited to enjoy the presentation of the student's newly acquired skills and stay after for a Blackwater Railroad Concert. The News Producer writes local stories and oversees the work of staff and volunteer reporters. Seeking Volunteers & Ideas for Discovery Days at Talkeetna Elementary
Talkeetna Elementary School is hosting Discovery Days on Monday, May 18th through Wednesday, May 20th, from 9:00 to 11:15 AM, and they are looking for community volunteers. Discovery Days give students a chance to explore hands-on activities—from art and music to outdoor skills, STEM, and local business experiences. Emergency Preparedness Fair – CERT
Willow Community CenterThe Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors. Talkeetna MuseumThe Talkeetna Historical Society is seeking artists to decorate wooden salmon cutouts for their upcoming Salmon Run Art Auction fundraiser. The completed artwork is due by June 15th.
