    The annual Denali Arts Council Quilt Show is on Saturday, December 14th from 4 to 6pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The show displays quilts from a variety of local artists.

    Denali Arts Council is hosting Parlor in the Round, the songwriter showcase with an improv twist, on Saturday, December 14th. This years musical guests are pop/folk singer Matt the Electrician out of Austin Texas, Juneau based singer songwriter Marian Call, and local Ben Heller. The show starts at 7pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.

    The Denali Nordic Ski Club is looking to hire a club coordinator, with training starting this winter/spring. Must be organized, competent with technology including Zoom, WordPress, and Google Docs, and able to attend most of the club meetings held once a month.     Talkeetna Elementary PTA hosts their annual Holiday Souper Skate at the Talkeetna Elementary Jack MacDonald Ice Rink on Thursday, December 19th from 5 to 7pm.     Holiday in Whoville is Friday and Saturday, December 20th and 21st at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. This interactive dramatic reading of the Grinch stories is family friendly. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show is at 7pm. Bring an ornament to decorate a Whoville tree, or make one when you come.

    The Willow Library Association and Willow Trails Committee host the Festival of Trees Open House and Winter Solstice Walk on Saturday, December 21st from 5 to 7pm, at the Willow Public Library and Willow Lake. Trees have been decorated by local businesses and community members. Coffee, cider and treats will be served.

    • The Friends of the Talkeetna Library meet Friday, January 10th, at 1pm. A Zoom option is available. All are welcome.
    • Reading Mentors begins on Tuesday, January 14th from 3:15 to 4:15 pm. The program is for 2nd to 4th graders, and homeschoolers are welcome. Space is limited and preregistration is required, this can be done at Talkeetna Elementary School or Talkeetna Library, in person or by phone.
    • Staff are available to help file your PFD applications.
