  • Community Gathering & Potluck- KTNA

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    We’re taking a trip down memory lane! KTNA is hosting a casual community gathering featuring a screening of the KTNA Millennium Concert from April 22, 2000. This footage was recently digitized, and we are excited to bring it back to the community 26 years after the original performance. We’ll be celebrating with a potluck, you are welcome to bring something to share… or just bring yourself! That’s from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. We look forward to sharing this blast from the past with you all!

  • Volunteers needed for Summer Reading Program

    The Talkeetna Public Library is looking for a volunteers for their Summer Reading Program. This is a weekly program with different weekly themes. The first day is Thursday, May 28, beginning with programming at 11:15am followed by Lunch on the Lawn. If you would like to present a program to the younger children, to the tweens and teens, or to adults, please call the library. at 907-861-7645.

    Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program is accepting applications from high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness. The deadline is May 1st.     The Denali Arts Council's Dudes and Divas present the musical experience Copa Denali, Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Watch local performers singing classic country favorites. Audience members are encouraged to dress for the theme. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm. The News Producer writes local stories and oversees the work of staff and volunteer reporters.   • Mother’s Day Concert – Denali Arts Council

    The Denali Arts Council's Music Academy presents a Mother's Day Concert on Sunday, May 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The program features the Rhythm and Red Shoes Ensemble, Desperate Measures and the Community Choir, performing a mix of classical and pop pieces. Doors open at 3:30pm and the concert starts at 4pm.   • Su Valley Band Lab Showcase and Blackwater Railroad Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Alaska band, Blackwater Railroad Company hosted the Denali Arts Council's after school music program Su Valley Band Lab. The students are presenting a showcase of their newly acquired skills at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, May 15th. Doors at 6:30pm, showcase at 7pm.   • SpongeBob Musical

    Glenn Massay Theater

    The SpongeBob Musical will be showing at Glenn Massay Theater on the campus of Mat-Su College from May 21st through June 6th.   • Seeking Volunteers & Ideas for Discovery Days at Talkeetna Elementary

    Talkeetna Elementary School is hosting Discovery Days on Monday, May 18th through Wednesday, May 20th, from 9:00 to 11:15 AM, and they are looking for community volunteers. Discovery Days give students a chance to explore hands-on activities—from art and music to outdoor skills, STEM, and local business experiences.   • Emergency Preparedness Fair – CERT

    The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors.     The Talkeetna Historical Society is seeking artists to decorate wooden salmon cutouts for their upcoming Salmon Run Art Auction fundraiser. The completed artwork is due by June 15th.
