  • Ice Carving Workshop

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council is offering an ice carving workshop with Professional Ice Sculptor, Tommy Salami. on Sunday, February 8th. In the workshop you will carve a 10lb block of ice into a masterpiece that you get to take home. Ice and tools will be provided. This workshop will be held outside at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, so dress warmly. There are 2 sessions to choose between: 11am-1pm and 2-4 pm.   • Poker Ski – Denali Nordic Ski Club

    The Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts the annual Poker Ski, a 7.5ish mile ski from the Flying Squirrel Bakery and Cafe to Denali BrewPub, downtown.  This ski begins at 12pm from the Flying Squirrel and is fun for all ages. 

  • Super Bowl party – Talkeetna VFW

    The VFW in Talkeetna is hosting a Super Bowl party this Sunday, February 8th. Doors open at 1pm, kick off is at 2:30pm. There will be wings and door prizes; attendees may bring something to add to the Snack Stadium.

  • Complexities of Love Rehearsals – Denali Arts Council

    The variety show, Complexities of Love, is February 13th and 14th and Denali Arts Council is looking for performers. If you have a talent you’d like to share—dance, music, singing, comedy, poetry, puppetry, or anything else—they’d love to hear from you. The final rehearsal and audition is on Sunday, February 8th, from 3 to 5pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. You must audition for Jenny in order to be included in the show.     KTNA's Annual Decadent Dessert Auction is this week! Tune in daily as we auction off delicious, locally-crafted works of art. The live, on-air auctions are held at 2pm and 8pm Monday through Thursday. On Friday we are hosting on-air auctions at 1 pm and 2pm. Then our finale is during a Decadent Dessert skit at the Complexities of Love variety show at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday and Saturday evenings.   • Fiber February teacher needed

    It's Fiber February at Denali Arts Council and organizers are looking for someone who would like to teach a needle felting workshop. Workshops will be on February 15th and 22nd.   • 16th Annual Crowley Classic – Susitna Valley High School

    Susitna Valley High School’s Varsity tournament, the Crowley Classic, continues today (Friday) and starts at 9am Saturday. Teams hosted will be the girls & boys from Dillingham, Tok, Huslia, Unalaska and Tri-Valley. The full schedule can be found on the high school’s Facebook Page.

  • Love on the Loops relay race

    Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails (MUTT) and Denali Nordic Ski Club are hosting Love on the Loops, a combined human and dog powered relay race. The event is at Talkeetna Lakes Park off Comsat Rd. on February 14th, at noon, starting on X lake. Each relay loop is around 5 km and bib pick up is 11:20 am.   • Learn How to Wax Your Skis clinic – Denali Nordic Ski Club

    Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts a Learn How to Wax Your Skis clinic on Sunday, February 15th from 3 to 6 pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Attendees may bring skate or classic skis, one pair per person. The clinic will host 1 hour of instruction and discussion about types of skis for different uses, followed by 2 hours of participants waxing their own skis. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
