  • Oosik Classic Ski Race – Denali Nordic Ski Club

    Mile 11 Gravel Pit Talkeetna

    The Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts the annual Oosik Classic Ski Race this Saturday, March 14th. The race start is at the mile 11 gravel pit off the Talkeetna Spur Road. Jr. Oosik starts at 10:00am, the 25K Race starts at 12:15pm and the 50K Race begins at 12pm. Racers may be crossing the finish line by the Boat Launch off of F Street in East Talkeetna between 1 and 6 pm. Please use caution when driving in race areas. Shuttles will run from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. Find more information, including shuttle stops at denalinordicskiclub.org.

    Talkeetna Library hosts their Tween Page to Screen program on Saturday, March 14 from 5 to 7pm. The movie this month is Inkheart, based on the book by Cornelia Funke. Tweens aged 9 to 12 are invited to discuss the book, enjoy the movie and share some pizza Pie.

    The Upper Susitna Seniors are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center on Friday, March 20th beginning at 6pm. All are welcome to purchase a dinner of spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. There will also be a silent auction.     Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program supports high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness, helping to build a stronger health workforce in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and beyond.
