The Talkeetna Historical Society hosts their closing event Salmon Run Art Auction at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, July 27th from 3 to 6pm. Visitors can view all salmon in person that are in the online auction and enjoy some snacks. There will be 4 late-run salmon auctioned off live at the event. Online bidding is open through July 27th at 5 pm. Help will be available at the event to participate in the online auction. Proceeds benefit the Talkeetna Museum. The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm today (Thursday). This week, Geologist Greg will be showing his new rock polisher and also talking about volcanoes. All are welcome to come and blow up a small volcano. The final day of the program is next week on August 7th. Reading logs are due by noon that day for participants to be eligible for the prize drawings, you can also call in your totals. The phone number for Talkeetna Library is 907-861-7645. The Willow Public Library Summer Reading Program, Level Up at Your Library, is held every Thursday in July. The program is 12:30-1:30 pm with lunch provided from 1:00-1:30 pm. The elected candidate will sit on the Board until the next election cycle in November. Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction. An assessment is required before joining, to schedule you may call (907) 733-9292. The Denali Nordic Ski Club Board will meet Thursday, September 4th at 6pm at the Latitude 62. The public is welcome to attend. The Susitna Community Council meets the first Thursday of each month at the Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center at 7 pm. |
