The Upper Susitna Softball Association is offering all kids complementary hot dogs and hamburgers for participating in a softball game and skills competition again this Friday, July 3rd starting a 3:30 PM at the Talkeetna ball field. The fun will conclude before Live at 5. Age is restricted to around 5-13 years old. The Denali Arts Council and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, an annual Summer Concert series beginning this Friday, May 17th. The weekly concerts are family-friendly and are every Friday from 5-7 pm at the Talkeetna Village Park. The concerts feature bands from Alaska and the lower 48. 5 events,Alaska Trails is organizing a two-day volunteer event, July 25th and 26th, on Ermine Hill Trail in Denali State Park. Volunteers will replace one of the foot bridges and repair sections of trail tread to allow for proper drainage. Hiking is challenging on steep terrain with between 3-4 miles total hiked each day. Volunteers will work both Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 to 3:30pm and have the opportunity to camp at Byers Lake Campground. There will be an EWaste event at the Upper Susitna Senior Center on Saturday, July 25th, from 11am-2pm. Electronics, small appliances, printers, cables and wires, fluorescent bulbs, and household alkaline lead acid batteries will be accepted. Do not bring large appliances, smoke alarms, scrap metal, ballasts, medical equipment or anything containing liquid. Glass, miscellaneous plastic, which is plastic that is not accepted at regular recycling, and books will also be collected. Do not bring perfume bottles, candle holders, vases, or plate glass. 2 events,The Trapper Creek Public Library hosts Plant a Seed, Read a summer reading program with lunch on Wednesdays at the library. This program is for children of all ages. 4 events,Strong Women exercise group meet at 10 am at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Zoom option is available. This program is aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility for women over 40 years old. Newcomers are always welcome, weights and instructions are provided. At noon, all ages are welcome to have lunch together- on the lawn. Weekly backpacks with breakfasts, lunches, and snacks will be available for pick up for anyone aged 18 and under. If you are unable to pick up your lunch on Thursday between noon and 1, please let the library know and they can hold them for you. 1 event,The Denali Arts Council and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, an annual Summer Concert series beginning this Friday, May 17th. The weekly concerts are family-friendly and are every Friday from 5-7 pm at the Talkeetna Village Park. The concerts feature bands from Alaska and the lower 48.
