The Talkeetna Public Library is looking for a volunteers for their Summer Reading Program. This is a weekly program with different weekly themes. The first day is Thursday, May 28, beginning with programming at 11:15am followed by Lunch on the Lawn. If you would like to present a program to the younger children, to the tweens and teens, or to adults, please call the library. at 907-861-7645. Strong Women exercise group meet at 10 am at the Talkeetna Public Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A Zoom option is available. This program is aimed at improving strength, balance and flexibility for women over 40 years old. Newcomers are always welcome, weights and instructions are provided. Wednesday evening pickleball is held at Talkeetna Elementary School's gym, play will move outside to the hockey rink when weather and temperatures permit. The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety.
