Quilt Show – Denali Arts Council

Laughing All the Way to the Brink matinee performance – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarDenali Arts Council hosts a Matinee of the performance, Laughing All the Way to the Brink, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, December 14th. This theatrical event is part of the Climate Theater Festival and will feature seven short plays by playwrights from around the world. While climate change is very serious, most of these plays are very not. Doors open at 2:30, and the performance is at 3pm. Donations are welcome, proceeds raised will go to the Susitna River Coalition. Learn more at denaliartscouncil.org.
Winter Plein Air Painting class – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarWatercolorist Miles Bloomfield is instructing a series of Winter Plein Air Painting classes. Classes are from 1 to 4pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on most Tuesdays, through January. This is an outdoor painting class, so participants should dress for the weather. If temperatures are too cold, the class will be held indoors. All supplies are provided. Sign up is available at denaliartscouncil.org. Drop-ins are welcome if space allows.
Holiday in Whoville Interactive Dramatic Reading – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarDenali Arts Council hosts Holiday in Whoville's Interactive Dramatic Reading of the Grinch Stories at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday and Saturday, December 19th and 20th. Attendees are welcome to come dressed in their Whoville best. They are also welcome to bring an ornament to add to the tree, or arrive early to make one - craft supplies will be available. This is an all ages show and fun for the whole family. Doors open at 6:30pm, the performance begins at 7pm. Tickets available at denaliartscouncil.org.
Ice Carving Workshops – Denali Arts Council
Sheldon Community Arts HangarRegistration is now open for the Ice Carving Workshops, taught by Tommy Salami. There will be an adult and youth workshop on Saturday, January 3rd outside the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Tommy will instruct participants on carving techniques on 10lb blocks of ice. This is a great way to learn how to carve before the Ice Carving Competition. Supplies will be provided, and you can take your carving home with you. Register online at denaliartscouncil.org.
