    On Friday, September 19th, Denali Arts Council is presenting emerging Alaskan voices. Six talented writers will share their work, from poetry to prose. Some are current University of Alaska creative writing students, others are published authors and former students now doing interesting things with their lives. Doors open at 7pm and the reading starts at 7:30pm.

  • Alex Zerbe the Zaniac – Denali Arts Council

    As a part of the Denali Arts Council’s Performing Arts Season, they host a family-friendly action-comedy with Alex Zerbe the Zaniac, on Wednesday, October 1st at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.   • Mask Making Workshop – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council is hosting a mask making workshop at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, October 5th from 1pm to 4pm. All supplies will be provided.   • Heart Like a Mountain, Book Reading & Signing – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts Suraj Holzwarth, presenting her new book, Heart Like a Mountain on Friday, October 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, from 7 to 8pm. In 1979 at the age of 19, Suraj became the youngest woman to summit Denali. In her memoir, she shares a spirited account of the 30-day expedition which began in the Peters Hills, leading through some of Alaska's most remote wilderness before reaching Denali's Base Camp. Saraj will read from her book, present a slide show and will be available for book signings.

    Denali Arts Council hosts a Matinee of the performance, Laughing All the Way to the Brink, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, December 14th. This theatrical event is part of the Climate Theater Festival and will feature seven short plays by playwrights from around the world. While climate change is very serious, most of these plays are very not. Doors open at 2:30, and the performance is at 3pm.
