In this episode we discuss the recent award given to Talkeetna Recycling Committee. We hear from Talkeetna resident Jody Fitzgerald about how she got the idea for a mobile recycling service and how that pilot program went this summer. Jeff Smith with the Mat Su Borough Solid Waste Division gives an update on our Borough Transfer sites, discusses seasonal changes and lets us know of past and future programs, from refuse coupons to composting, scrap metal drop off to junk vehicle removal.

Recycling at the Talkeetna Transfer Site, mi 12.5 Talkeetna Spur Road:
Tuesdays & Saturdays, Noon – 4pm
*aluminum cans * steel cans * plastic: #1, #2, #5, stretchy * mixed paper * office paper * cardboard (Saturdays only)
Winter: if temperature (including wind chill) is below Zero at the Transfer site, recycling will not open. Updates will appear on Facebook by 11am that morning.
Volunteers for recycling shifts are welcome to join the effort!
