KTNA maintains an online announcement and classified page to help keep our listeners informed. Announcements are mainly for nonprofits. Classifieds are for nonprofits as well as individual needs. The KTNA Community Calendar includes all announcements plus additional community events happening at local businesses.

There are three ways you can submit Announcements, Classifieds and events for the Community Calendar: through our online form, via email at info@ktna.org or by calling 907-733-1700.

Coming up on KTNA

This week on Talk of Alaska is an episode of the Alaska Survival Kit series.
Alaska is an amazing place. But it’s also a land that can challenge even the hardiest of humans, especially during our long, dark, and cold winters. What helps you stay healthy and happy during tedious times? The new series Alaska Survival Kit, explores the ways Alaskans not only survive but thrive. This episode of Talk of Alaska aired live at 10am and rebroadcasts tonight (Tuesday) at 7pm.

The topic on Line One this week is a rebroadcast and the topic is Stuttering.
Stuttering is a condition that affects the rhythm and flow of speech for 3 million people in the US. It’s not caused by anxiety or a lack of intelligence, but a neurological difference that often begins in childhood and can last a lifetime. Host Dr. Jillian Woodruff and her guests discuss how people who stutter are challenging outdated views and embracing a more informed approach to communication. Line One airs on KTNA Wednesdays at 10am.

For the next Just K music and quizzes show, Kathleen will take us on a sound-trip into the tropics with a program she’s calling “Andi’s Playlist”. Tune-in, call-in, and warm-up this Wednesday 1-2 pm.

Save the date! Our Annual Celebration and Membership Meeting is on Saturday, January 17th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Come hungry, we will have a taco bar from 5 to 6:30pm. This year we host a Vinyl Dance Party beginning at 6:30pm, dress up and dance the night away as our DJs spin vinyl records. This is also your chance to vote on your favorite album art recreation from our Album Art Show/Contest! Learn more at KTNA.org.

    The Willow Area Community Organization's (WACO) monthly meetings are held at 7pm on the first Wednesday of every month at the Willow Community Center. The next one is on January 7th. More information at waco-ak.org

    Talkeetna Library hosts the Tween Page to Screen program on Saturday, January 10th from 5 to 7pm. They will be watching the movie adaptation of Holes, by Louis Sachar.

  • Circus Sunday – Green Light Circus & Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council and Green Light Circus present: a Circus Sunday! The first of 5 scheduled monthly workshops between January and May, will be Sunday, January 11th. The day will feature aerial silks workshops followed by open juggling at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Three workshops are scheduled between 10am and 3pm, space is limited in the aerial workshops and pre-registration is recommended. Find more information at denaliartscouncil.org.

    Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce and Talkeetna Community Council host a community conversation on the subject of a pedestrian only Main Street in downtown Talkeetna. All are invited to attend on Tuesday, January 13th from 6 to 8pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.

    The Talkeetna Public Library staff is available to help with your Permanent Fund Dividend applications. Please call and make a reservation if possible, the staff may also be able to help you over the phone. Paper forms are available. The library’s phone number is 907-861-7645, they are open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm.

    Complexities of Love Rehearsals – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council is holding auditions for their annual variety show, Complexities of Love. If you have a talent you’d like to share—dance, music, comedy, poetry, puppetry, or anything else—they’d love to hear from you. Four rehearsals are scheduled on Sundays January 18th through February 8th, from 3 to 5 pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. You must attend one of these rehearsals and audition for Jenny in order to be included in the show.
