The Upper Susitna Softball Association is hosting a softball game and skills competition this Friday, May 29th starting a 3:30pm at the ball field in Talkeetna. The fun will conclude before Live at 5. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.

The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors. There will be a volunteer work day on the Talkeetna Ridge Trail on Saturday, May 30 from 1-5pm. Volunteers will meet at the end of Comsat Road at 1pm. Closed-toed shoes and leather gloves are advised. Hand saws and loppers are needed if you have them. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The Susitna River Coalition and partners host the fifth annual Plants for Salmon on Saturday, June 6th from 10 am to 1 pm at Caswell Lake. Volunteers will help plant native trees and shrubs to support salmon habitat and streambank restoration efforts. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and sturdy shoes. Jessica Stevens Community Foundation's annual Healthy Communities Grant Cycle is open. Applications will be accepted through June 15th. Nonprofit organizations serving the Northern Susitna Valley are welcome to apply.

The Talkeetna Historical Society is seeking artists to decorate wooden salmon cutouts for their upcoming Salmon Run Art Auction fundraiser. The completed artwork is now due by July 15th. Those who are interested may stop by the museum or call Autumn at (907)304-0321 to coordinate a pickup time. The museum is open every day from 9am to 5pm.
