The Alaska Earthquake Information Center located two earthquakes Sunday afternoon in the northern valley.  The first one occurred at 1:12 and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.1.

Bond issues occupied discussions at the area’s community council meetings and the Mat-Su assembly meeting this week.

The Mat-Su Borough will hold a special election to determine the replacement of current mayor Talis Colberg. Colberg resigned effective October 20.

As students and parents get ready for school to start up, a few noteworthy changes have taken place in the Mat-Su Borough School District.

Former Talkeetna resident William George Pariseau, age 67, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 15 years in prison.
