Volunteers needed – Talkeetna Public Library
The Talkeetna Public Library is looking for volunteers. Volunteers are needed for the Reading Mentors programs on Tuesdays at 3:15 to 4:30pm, chefs for the soon-to-start Stone Soup adult cooking group, as well as volunteers to work in the library. These positions do require some paperwork with the borough. For more information you may call the Talkeetna Library 907-861-7645, Monday through Saturday, 11am to 6pm.
Talkeetna Community Council – deadline for a write-in candidate
The Talkeetna Community Council's annual election takes place on election day, November 4th, at the Talkeetna Public Library. The deadline for a write-in candidate is 5pm today (Tuesday, October 28th). The Talkeetna Community Council represents the community as a means of citizen participation in local and State government issues, as well as providing a platform for various community services and development projects. The candidate is required to live within the Talkeetna Community Council area, more information at talkeetnacouncil.org.
Rhythm and Red Shoes Ensemble meeting
The Rhythm and Red Shoes Ensemble begins rehearsing on Tuesday, October 28th at 5:30 PM at St. Bernard's Church in East Talkeetna. If you read music and play at an intermediate level you could join this group. If you have questions you may call Sandy at 907-355-3052.
Recycling in the Susitna Valley
There will be a presentation on Recycling in the Susitna Valley by Tam Boeve (bow-vee), executive director of Valley Community Recycling Solutions on Tuesday, October 28, 7 p.m. in the Willow Public Library meeting room. Topics include what you can recycle, why clean and sorted matters, where recyclables go and glass recycling in the area. Please bring your questions. B Movie Bingo – Denali Arts Council
B Movie Bingo is back at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Tuesday, October 28th. Movie watchers can participate in movie-related bingo for a chance to win prizes. Next weeks movie is a classic Halloween B movie and is adult themed. The movie starts at 8pm. Call 907-230-8662 for more details.
