The 9th Annual Wild Su Feast is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Denali Brewing Company, located at Mile 2 of the Talkeetna Spur Road. The event, hosted by the Susitna River Coalition, features a community potluck and cooking competition with foods that walked, swam, flew, or grew in the Susitna Watershed. The next election is on November 4th, which means you must register by October 5th in order to have your vote count. Denali Arts Council hosts Suraj Holzwarth, presenting her new book, Heart Like a Mountain on Friday, October 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, from 7 to 8pm. In 1979 at the age of 19, Suraj became the youngest woman to summit Denali. In her memoir, she shares a spirited account of the 30-day expedition which began in the Peters Hills, leading through some of Alaska's most remote wilderness before reaching Denali's Base Camp. Saraj will read from her book, present a slide show and will be available for book signings. |

Talkeetna Elementary School is hosting the Annual Halloween & Harvest Carnival on Friday, October 31st, from 3:15 to 5:00 PM in the school gym. All are invited to wear costumes and enjoy games and food. Tickets for games and food can be purchased at the event or preordered online at schoolpay.com. All proceeds support the 5th Grade Coastal Ecology Field Trip to Kachemak Bay.

Do you love Halloween but live in an area where you rarely get trick-or-treaters? You are invited to set up a station at the VFW on the grassy side of the parking lot for Trunk-or-Treat. Typically this involves setting up the back of a vehicle or a pop up tent, decorating it, and handing out treats. You may set up your station between 4 and 4:30pm on Friday, October 31st to prepare. The VFW typically sees the most trick or treaters between 4:30 and 7pm.

Trunk-or-Treat will be held in the Willow Public Library parking lot on Halloween, October 31st, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Community members are welcome to park your vehicle, decorate your trunk and pass out treats to youth who arrive to trick-or-treat. Denali Arts Council hosts a Halloween concert with Blackwater Railroad at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, October 31st. This show is for all ages. There will also be a Costume Contest.
