The Willow Area Community Organization (WACO) holds their monthly meeting at the Willow Community Center on the first Wednesday of every month at 7pm. The next meeting is July 2nd. All are welcome. More information at waco-ak.org.

The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee is meeting on July 2nd at 7pm at Denali Education Center. This will be a working meeting to reach out to sponsors, create a fundraising thermometer to display the progress at the park, and brainstorm ways to raise funds for the skatepark. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome.

The parade starts at the First Baptist Church at noon and travels to the Willow Community Center. Following the parade is a celebration at the Community Center; there will be a contest for the most patriotic outfit and a community BBQ beginning at 1:30pm. Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The band this week is Denali Cooks.

Denali Arts Council hosts a Jazz Concert with Maestro Rocco John Iacovone (“E-ya-ka-vone-ay”) at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Rocco's Jazz Workshop attendees present their final performance with special musical guests, Joel Mosier and Steve Durr. Additionally, led by Denise Iacovone, painters from the Making the Audible Visible workshop will be on stage painting during the performance. Doors open at 6:30pm and the music starts at 7.

The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is at 1pm today (Thursday). This week Solstice Rescue Dogs will be at the library with dogs that are specially trained to rescue people from danger. There are three more weeks of activities and reading incentives, all ages are welcome to attend. The Talkeetna Public Library is closed for staff training on Wednesday, July 23rd. They are normally open Monday through Saturday from 11am until 6pm. Talkeetna Library's Wi-Fi is always on and available to use.

There is Celebration of Life for Orville Grosz on Wednesday, July 23rd from 6 to 9pm at the Denali Brewing Company's Tasting Room, located at Mile 2 of the Talkeetna Spur Road. Denali Arts Council is hosting the band ​High Step Society for an indoor/outdoor show at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, July 24th, with music beginning at 7:00pm. Based out of Oregon, High Step Society is a 7-piece band featuring horns, bass, synthesizer, drums and vocals. Tickets and more information about the band are available at www.denaliartscouncil.org

The Talkeetna Historical Society hosts their closing event Salmon Run Art Auction at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, July 27th from 3 to 6pm. Visitors can view all salmon in person that are in the online auction and enjoy some snacks. There will be 4 late-run salmon auctioned off live at the event.  Online bidding is open through July 27th at 5 pm.  Help will be available at the event to participate in the online auction. The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee meets on Wednesday, July 30th at 7PM at the Talkeetna Public Library. Anyone who wants to be involved with the project is welcome to attend.

The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm today (Thursday). This week, Geologist Greg will be showing his new rock polisher and also talking about volcanoes. All are welcome to come and blow up a small volcano. The final day of the program is next week on August 7th.
