  • Krew Feud – Talkeetna Skatepark Committee

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee presents: Krew Feud, a family-friendly live game show fundraiser in the style of Family Feud.  The event is Saturday, March 1st at 6pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. There is a suggested donation. All raised funds to go towards the construction of the Talkeetna Skatepark.

  • Matt Heckler NORTH Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts a concert with Matt Heckler on Sunday, March 2nd at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Matt is a multi-instrumentalist known for his raw, soulful take on Appalachian and early bluegrass music, with influences from Eastern Europe and Ireland. He has toured with bands like Devil Makes Three, Lost Dog Street Band, and Flogging Molly. Doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7pm. More information at denaliartscouncil.org

  • AARP Tax Assistance appointments

    AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Houston City Hall from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 2nd. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 2nd. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

    The Susitna Community Council meets on Thursday, March 6th at 6:00 pm at the Upper Susitna Senior & Community Center. Completed grant applications for their Community Assistance Program (CAP) are due by 8pm that day.  Anyone requesting grant funds for a project is invited to attend this meeting to share their grant request with the Board. More information and grant application available at susitnacc.org.

  • Showing of The Last King – Denali Nordic Ski Club

    Denali Nordic Ski Club presents the film, The Last King, at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday March 7th. This R-rated film begins at 7:30pm, after Oosik Registration. This film screening is a folk tale set in 1206 Norway, about ski champions who protect a child with a royal following.

    Talkeetna Elementary PTA is hosting a bake sale at the Oosik start line from 10am until 1pm on Saturday, March 8th. In addition to individually wrapped baked goods and healthy trail snacks, they will have water, hot chocolate, and electrolytes.
