    Talkeetna Community Council is looking for community members to serve on their Community Assistance Program (CAP) committee.  The committee will meet in late April to review grant applications and make recommendations on how to distribute CAP funds.   • AARP Tax Assistance appointments

    AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Houston City Hall from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 2nd. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 2nd. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

    The Talkeetna Public Library hosts Page to Screen on Saturday, March 22nd from 5 to 7pm at the Talkeetna Library. They will be showing the movie adaptation of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, there will be pizza and snacks. This program is for tweens ages 9 through 12.     On Saturday, March 22nd, Denali Arts Council presents Unit Souzou with their production Constant State of Otherness. The show starts at 7pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Unit Souzou will have an open workshop beginning at 3pm on Sunday, March 23rd with an interactive drumming demonstration followed by a Q&A.
