    Volunteers with the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program will be available to help community members with preparing and filing income taxes this coming Saturday, March 22nd at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.     The Talkeetna Public Library hosts Page to Screen on Saturday, March 22nd from 5 to 7pm at the Talkeetna Library. They will be showing the movie adaptation of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, there will be pizza and snacks. This program is for tweens ages 9 through 12.     On Saturday, March 22nd, Denali Arts Council presents Unit Souzou with their production Constant State of Otherness. The show starts at 7pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Unit Souzou will have an open workshop beginning at 3pm on Sunday, March 23rd with an interactive drumming demonstration followed by a Q&A.

    AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 9th. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 26th, March 12th, March 26th, and April 9th. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at Houston City Hall.

  • Talkeetna Main Street Rehabilitation – D&S Road Services

    D&S Road Services is rehabilitating Main Street in Talkeetna beginning today (Thursday, March 27th). They ask that all vehicles and obstacles remain removed from Main Street for the duration of this project. The work is expected to be completed by 5pm (on Thursday).

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.
