    AARP Tax Assistance appointments

    AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) tax representatives are available to assist local residents on completing their 2024 taxes. They will be at the Houston City Hall from 10am until 4pm every other Wednesday, until April 2nd. Assistance is by appointment only, you can schedule by calling 211 or (800) 478-2221 or visit taxappointment.aarp.org. Available dates are: February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 2nd. Appointments are available on alternative Wednesdays at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.

    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

    Talkeetna Elementary School hosts a Choose-Your-Ending Story Ski Night on Thursday, April 3rd, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. This Title 1 Event takes place along Talkeetna Elementary School's on-site ski trails, featuring an interactive, choose your own adventure, story. After your ski, you can warm up by a campfire. There will be hot dogs, tater tots, s’mores, and hot cocoa. Ski gear is available for students on a first-come, first-serve basis. All are welcome.     Denali Arts Council hosts the Alaska B4UDIE Comedy Tour on April 3rd and 4th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. On Thursday; Jessie James Best hosts comedians Alex Morris, Alfred Konuwa, Lou Pharis. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the jokes start at 7. On Friday; comedian Mary Santora takes the stage.
