    Here’s what’s coming up at the Willow Public Library:

    • Willow Library Mentoring Program meets each Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:30pm. This program is open to all Willow Elementary Students. Additional mentors are needed.
    • Story Time followed by free play in the Community Center is on Thursdays at 11am. This is geared toward ages 0-5, but all are welcome.

    The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is on Thursdays. This Thursday has the following activities.

    Storytime begins at 11am with a program by Alaska Wildbird Rehabilitation group. After Lunch on the Lawn, there will be another bird from the Wildbirds group beginning at 12:45. Following that, all are welcome to stay and have fun with Sharon and her amazing bioluminescent dinoflagellates!

    Denali Arts Council is offering a two-day improvisational "Live Art" painting workshop with Denise Iacovone (“E-ya-ka-vone-ay”).  The “Making the Audible Visible” Painting Class focuses on improvisational art and runs in conjunction with the Talkeetna Jazz Workshop. The first meeting takes place during the jazz workshop dress rehearsal on Thursday July 3rd from 4:30-7:30pm. The second meeting is at the final concert on Saturday July 5th from 6 to 8:30pm.     Denali Arts Council is hosting a Jazz Workshop with Maestro Rocco John Iacovone at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. This is an opportunity for anyone who loves playing music to learn to listen, respond, and collaborate with other jazz players. This two week workshop will meet June 23, 24, 26, 30, July 2 and 3, from 5-7pm. There will be a performance on Saturday, July 5 at 7:00pm. Registration is available on denaliartscouncil.org.   • Resilient Earth, Resilient Communities Traveling Exhibit – Denali Education Center

    The Denali Education Center and the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research present a traveling exhibit about Earth system science at Susitna Hall, in Talkeetna. The Resilient Earth, Resilient Communities Exhibit is on display Monday through Friday, 10 am until 5 pm, through July 4th.     Talkeetna's 4th of July Parade meanders down Main Street in downtown Talkeetna, beginning at Denali Education Center at 12pm.

  • Willow 4th of July Parade & Celebration

    The Willow Area Community Organization (WACO) hosts Willow's 4th of July Parade and Celebration this Friday. The parade starts at the First Baptist Church at noon and travels to the Willow Community Center. Following the parade is a celebration at the Community Center; there will be a contest for the most patriotic outfit and a community BBQ beginning at 1:30pm.     The Willow Health Organization hosts the Willow Farmers Market, an outdoor market at the Willow Community Center on Fridays from 2 until 7pm. This local market highlights items grown or made in Alaska. September 5th is the last day of the season.

    Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The band this week is Denali Cooks.

  • Jazz Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council hosts a Jazz Concert with Maestro Rocco John Iacovone (“E-ya-ka-vone-ay”) at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Rocco's Jazz Workshop attendees present their final performance with special musical guests, Joel Mosier and Steve Durr. Additionally, led by Denise Iacovone, painters from the Making the Audible Visible workshop will be on stage painting during the performance. Doors open at 6:30pm and the music starts at 7.
