    Denali Arts Council is seeking storytellers for the upcoming Arctic Entries on Saturday, April 4th. The theme is Potholes and Promises, Stories of bumps in the road, where they lead and how you kept going. The stories need to be true, written in the first person and seven minutes long.     The Talkeetna Library’s Seed Catalog is up and running. Herb, vegetable, and flower seeds are available. The Library is in need of some herb starts for the community herb garden.   • Spaghetti Dinner – Upper Susitna Seniors

    The Upper Susitna Seniors are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center on Friday, March 20th beginning at 6pm. All are welcome to purchase a dinner of spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds go towards the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center and helping to cover the cost of a new septic system for the building. For more information you may call (907)733-6200.

  • Winter Speaker Series – Elodea in Alaska – Susitna River Coalition

    The Susitna River Coalition hosts a Winter Speaker Series presentation on Elodea (uh-low-dee-uh) in Alaska on Wednesday, March 25th from 6 to 7pm via Zoom. Cody Jacobson of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources – Division of Agriculture will provide an overview of Elodea biology, documented locations in Alaska, and current efforts to control and contain the invasive aquatic plant. Information about potential habitat effects in river systems such as the Susitna drainage will also be discussed.

  • Scholarship opportunity – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program supports high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness, helping to build a stronger health workforce in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and beyond.
