    The Friends of the Talkeetna Library celebrate the Talkeetna Public Library's 10th anniversary of being in the new location on Saturday, June 28th from 12:30 to 2:30pm.   • Broadway in TKA – Kaitlin Lawrence – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council hosts a night of music with professional actress and theater director, Kaitlin Lawrence, on Saturday, June 28th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Kaitlin’s performance includes a setlist ranging from show tunes to Bonnie Raitt and original songs, with a splash of Broadway flair. Doors open at 6:30pm, the show starts at 7.

  • Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center Membership and Voting

    The Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center requires memberships to be paid by the end of June to be able to vote in upcoming elections. Members who pay their membership after that date will have no voting rights. For any questions, call at 907-733-6200.

    KTNA hosts our annual Volunteer Picnic/BBQ on Wednesday, July 2nd from 5 until 8pm. We will have hamburgers & hot dogs, veggie shish-kabobs, homemade side dishes, drinks and desserts. Volunteers meet for a group picture at 6:45pm. All are welcome to stop by to enjoy some food and good company.

    The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee is meeting on July 2nd at 7pm at Denali Education Center. This will be a working meeting to reach out to sponsors, create a fundraising thermometer to display the progress at the park, and brainstorm ways to raise funds for the skatepark.     The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is on Thursdays. This Thursday has the following activities.

    Storytime begins at 11am with a program by Alaska Wildbird Rehabilitation group. After Lunch on the Lawn, there will be another bird from the Wildbirds group beginning at 12:45. Following that, all are welcome to stay and have fun with Sharon and her amazing bioluminescent dinoflagellates!

  • “Making the Audible Visible” Painting Class – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council is offering a two-day improvisational "Live Art" painting workshop with Denise Iacovone (“E-ya-ka-vone-ay”).  The “Making the Audible Visible” Painting Class focuses on improvisational art and runs in conjunction with the Talkeetna Jazz Workshop. The first meeting takes place during the jazz workshop dress rehearsal on Thursday July 3rd from 4:30-7:30pm. The second meeting is at the final concert on Saturday July 5th from 6 to 8:30pm.   • Resilient Earth, Resilient Communities Traveling Exhibit – Denali Education Center

    The Denali Education Center and the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research present a traveling exhibit about Earth system science at Susitna Hall, in Talkeetna. The Resilient Earth, Resilient Communities Exhibit is on display Monday through Friday, 10 am until 5 pm, through July 4th.     Talkeetna's 4th of July Parade meanders down Main Street in downtown Talkeetna, beginning at Denali Education Center at 12pm.

  • Willow 4th of July Parade & Celebration

    Willow Community Center

    The Willow Area Community Organization (WACO) hosts Willow's 4th of July Parade and Celebration this Friday. The parade starts at the First Baptist Church at noon and travels to the Willow Community Center. Following the parade is a celebration at the Community Center; there will be a contest for the most patriotic outfit and a community BBQ beginning at 1:30pm.
