  • Art Opening – Bear Necessities Coalition – Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe

    Flying Squirrel Bakery & Cafe

    The Bear Necessities Coalition hosts a bear themed art opening at Flying Squirrel Bakery Cafe on Saturday, June 7th from 3 to 5pm. The art will remain on the walls for the month of June. Bear art submissions are currently being accepted, if you would like to submit some art you may email Wendy at wjb@mtaonline.net. Proceeds support the Bear Necessities Coalition.

  • Denali Rescue Volunteers Event

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    There is a fundraising event for Denali Rescue Volunteers at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, June 7th at 7pm. Roger Robinson presents Denali South Buttress Climbs, as a tribute to Denali’s volunteer rescue legacy. Talkeetna’s Roger Robinson will recount his 1975 climb of Denali’s remote South Buttress—a journey that launched his 45-year career in the Alaska Range. The talk includes rare photos and audio from the original 1954 ascent and rescue and Denali’s first helicopter evacuation. There will be door prizes and donations are welcome at the door.

  • Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library

    Talkeetna Public Library Talkeetna

    Storytime at the Talkeetna Public Library for ages 0 to 7 this week starts at 11am. The theme is Stories and Nature, and the kids will be walking the Literary Trail. At noon, Lunch on the Lawn for ages 0 to 18 is provided by the Upper Susitna Food Pantry. Weekly food bags will be available as well. Summer Reading Program begins promptly at 1pm. There will be a guided walk at the Talkeetna Lakes Park. The summer reading incentive program is open to all ages, including adult. You can sign up at the front desk.

  • Addiction Recovery Group – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center Talkeetna 34300 South Talkeetna Spur Road, Talkeetna, Alaska, United States

    Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month. The next meeting is June 12th. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction. An assessment is required before joining, to schedule you may call (907) 733-9292.

  • FY2026 Mat-Su Human Services Community Matching Grant Program

    The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is soliciting applications from non-profit agencies for the FY2026 Mat-Su Human Services Community Matching Grant Program. The application period closes at 4:30 pm on Friday, June 13th. Applicants may request up to $50,000 per agency. More information is available online.

    Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The band this week is H3.

  • 4th Annual Plants for Salmon

    The Susitna River Coalition and partners host the 4th Annual Plants for Salmon. All are invited to plant native vegetation to restore salmon habitat on Saturday, June 14, from 10am to 2pm at the Yoder Road bridge on Montana Creek. There will be kids’ activities, fly casting demos, and food.  Tools are provided; bring gloves and sturdy shoes if possible.     There is a celebration of life for Francine Bennis on Saturday June 14th at 3 pm at the Trapper Creek Community Center located at Mile 115.2 Parks Highway, TC Parks Circle Drive. You can bring stories to share and a dish for the potluck.

  • Salmon Run Art Auction entries deadline

    Entries for this year’s Salmon Run Art Auction fundraiser benefiting the Talkeetna Historical Society are due at the Museum by Sunday, June 15. These artistic salmon will be on display for on-line auction at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar during the month of July, with a live auction and art show on July 27th, 3-6 p.m. If you have questions, please call the Museum at 907-733-2487.
