  • Burn Permit Suspension is lifted

    The Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection has lifted burn permit suspension for the MatSu Borough.  As of July 16th burn permits are now valid.  Burn permits are available online, at local fire departments, or at your local Division of Forestry & Fire Protection office.

  • Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library

    The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is on Thursdays

    • Today the Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm. This week’s theme is Fairy Houses and Woodland Dwellings. Also, the library is creating a rock snake named William Snakespeare. Supplies for rock painting are available to use in the building or to borrow to make a snake segment at home. Bring your segments in to get varnished and added to the sculpture.
    • Weekly meal backpacks, provided by Upper Susitna Food Pantry, are available at the front desk on Thursday afternoons until Saturday, or when supplies run out. These backpacks are available for children under 18 years of age to take home.

    There are 2 more weeks of activities and reading incentives, all ages are welcome to attend. All reading logs must be turned in by Noon on Thursday, August 7th. For more information, you may call the library at 907-861-7645 and visit their Facebook Page.

    Denali Arts Council is hosting the band ​High Step Society for an indoor/outdoor show at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, July 24th, with music beginning at 7:00pm.
