    Talkeetna Elementary School is seeking volunteers for their upcoming Discovery Day activities for students on May 19th, 20th, and 21st. Each activity will run for about two hours and serve a small group of students. They are looking for volunteers to lead or assist with activities like sewing, geocaching, tie-dyeing, and bead making.     Talkeetna Elementary School hosts the Annual Kindergarten Meet and Greet for all prospective students and their parents on Wednesday, May 7th from 10:15 until 11:00am, in the Kindergarten Classroom #135. The Meet and Greet is for students entering Kindergarten for the 2025/2026 school year. Students must be turning 5 years old on or before September 1st, 2025.   • Pressure Canner Gauge Testing

    The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is offering Pressure Canner Gauge Testing today (Thursday, May 8th). They will be at the Talkeetna Public Library from 1 to 4pm. All are welcome to bring a pressure canner dial gauge in for a test to make sure it is accurate and functioning properly. New or unused gauges should be tested before first use.   • Addiction Recovery Group – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month, the next one being on May 8th. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction. This is a 25k, and 5k race in September which supports Talkeetna Elementary PTA's Healthy Lifestyles and Artist in Residence programs.   • Willow Summer Trails challenge

    The Willow Summer Trails challenge begins May 16, and ends September 26th. Passports with listed Willow community trail descriptions are available at the Willow Library. Participants will document their hike with selfies. A culminating event to award prizes will be held on September 27th.
