The Talkeetna Cemetery Board is meeting Thursday, May 22nd at 6pm at the Talkeetna Public Library. All are welcome. They are looking for a volunteer to help with maintenance as well as input for a potential website.

Talkeetna Recycling is holding a training for cardboard processing on Friday, May 23rd at 1:30 at the baler building at the Transfer Site. Everyone is welcome to attend. Recycling is very much in need of additional volunteers for both regular recycling and cardboard processing. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The series starts May 23rd and the band is Nothin' But Trouble.

The Willow Public Library 9th Annual 5K Fun Walk & Run is on Saturday, May 24 at 10am, starting in the Library parking lot. Registration forms are available at the Library or you may register starting at 9am on race day. There is a participation fee, and tee shirts are available for participants. Proceeds support Willow Library programs. Questions may be addressed to Library staff at 907-861-7655. This event is sponsored by the Willow Library and Willow Library Association.

There is a clean up day at the Talkeetna Cemetery on Saturday, May 24th starting at 10am. All are welcome.

Both Willow and Talkeetna Sunshine Community Health Center clinic locations are closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day. They remind area residents to plan ahead by calling 907-376-2273 to request prescription refills, schedule appointments, or take care of any medical needs before the holiday weekend.

The Mat Su Libraries are closed on Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day. This includes Willow, Talkeetna, and Trapper Creek.

Talkeetna VFW Post 3836 honors its fallen members every Memorial Day. This year the ceremony is on Monday, May 26th at 11AM at the Talkeetna Cemetery. A potluck will be hosted at the Myron “Ace” Ebling VFW Post 3836 at the conclusion of the ceremony. All are welcome.

The Talkeetna Skatepark Committee is meeting on Wednesday, May 28th at 6:00PM at the proposed skatepark location next to the Wild Woods playground. This will be a site cleanup followed by a meeting afterwards. All are welcome to attend.

Willow Dog Mushers Association meets at 7pm on the 4th Wednesday of each month at the Willow Community Center. The next one is on May 28th. The public is invited to a Don Sheldon Memorial Reception and Statue Reveal at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, May 31st to honor the life and flying of Talkeetna's pioneer bush pilot, Don Sheldon. Attendees are welcome to share stories of Don at 5:00pm. There is a community potluck at 6:00pm followed by live polka music from Alaska's Main Squeeze.

Valley Community for Recycling Solutions' annual, Recycle Revival Music Fest is on Sunday, June 1st, at Skeetawk in Hatcher Pass, starting at 1PM. This family-friendly event includes food trucks, a beer garden, lift rides, and live music. Learn more at valleyrecyclingak.org.
