    KTNA is seeking participants for the upcoming KTNA Game Show on Friday, April 18th. We will be playing games inspired by Wait! Wait!   • The Risan Project, Films & Concert – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council hosts The Risan Project at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, April 10th. The evening begins with a screening of Northward, a short documentary on Todd Anders Johnson’s band, Salem, touring and backcountry snowboarding in Alaska. This is followed by the expedition-based climate change documentary Cresta Alta, chronicling a journey to Alaska, Iceland, Chile and Peru to document glaciological research expeditions and sustainability. Followed by a discussion and Q&A. The night concludes with a live concert by Salem, blending alt-rock, world, hip-hop, jazz, and neo-soul. Doors open at 6:30pm and the shows begin at 7.   • Denali Education Center open positions

    Denali Education Center is hiring for three local seasonal positions:

    • Youth Field Educator, focused on leading youth programs in Talkeetna, with the opportunity to lead camping trips in the Denali region
    • Talkeetna Educator, focused on the planning, preparation, and delivery of Talkeetna’s suite of youth and adult programming
    • Instructor-in-Training, an opportunity for 16 to 21-year-olds to get hands-on experience leading youth programming in Talkeetna

    Talkeetna Public Library Talkeetna

    Talkeetna Public Library hosts the last Tweens Page to Screen Program on Saturday April 12th from 5pm to 7pm. Tweens ages 9 to 12 watch the movie based on the book, and enjoy pizza and snacks. This month’s selection is Ella Enchanted by Gale Carson Levine.

  • Susitna River Coalition’s Winter Speaker Event

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    The Susitna River Coalition's final Winter Speaker Event of the season will be in person on Thursday, April 17th at 6PM at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. The event will cover the history of gold mining in Cache Creek and ongoing efforts to restore salmon habitat in the area.     Denali Arts Council presents the art of Layla Micheli for the month of April at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Layla's art is acrylic art pour on the theme of mindfulness, mediation, and relaxation.

    We are hosting The KTNA Game Show tonight (Friday, April 18th) at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. This is an evening of public radio inspired games from Wait! Wait! Don’t Tell Me! followed by Music Quizzes and Local Trivia. There are opportunities for the audience to participate, and we have a special musical finale planned! Doors open at 6:30pm and the games begin at 7. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Lightwire Theater Puppeteering & Storytelling Workshop – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council and Friends of the Talkeetna Library host Lightwire Theater, presenting a puppeteering and storytelling workshop at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Saturday, April 19th from 10:30 to 11:30am. They will first show off their puppets, demonstrate how they work and answer questions. They will then lead families into creating their own puppets using everyday household items. Open to all ages.   • Earth Day Celebration – Denali Education Center

    Denali Education Center hosts their annual Earth Day Celebration with a non-profit and civic engagement fair on April 19th from 11am until 3pm. This event includes kids activities, a PTA Bake Sale, food, and more. Learn more on their Facebook Event Page.

    Also at Earth Day there will be Electronic Waste Collection. Computers, phones, TVs and similar will be accepted as well as small appliances, cords and cables, fluorescent bulbs, and standard household alkaline batteries. Please do NOT bring lithium, nickel, rechargeable, or lead acid batteries, ballasts, large appliances, or anything with liquid in it.
