  • Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library

    The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is on Thursdays until August 7th, with the following activities:

    • Storytime for ages 0-7 begins 11am with a snack, stories, and a craft. The theme this week is Rock Painting and the kids will begin to make a William Snakespeare rock sculpture.
    • Lunch on the Lawn for all ages up to 18 is at 12pm.
    • The Summer Reading Program for all ages begins at 1pm. Elaborate rock painting is the activity, and the kids will have a chance to add to the rock-snake sculpture.
    • Reading logs may be turned in at the front desk on Thursdays.

  • Addiction Recovery Group – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center hosts an Addiction Recovery Group at the Talkeetna Clinic from 1 to 2 PM every second and fourth Thursday of the month. This program is open to adults seeking support in their recovery journey, it provides education, peer support, and therapeutic tools for individuals navigating addiction. An assessment is required before joining, to schedule you may call (907) 733-9292.

  • Alaska Division of Forestry burn permit suspension

    The Alaska Division of Forestry has a burn permit suspension in effect for the Mat-Su Borough. A burn permit suspension means no burning of burn barrels, debris piles, or lawn burns. Campfires smaller than 3ft in diameter for the purpose of warming, cooking, or signaling are still allowed. Adequate clearance away from combustibles and attendance until cold to the touch are still required for campfires. Any approved fire, even a small one should be undertaken with extreme caution and vigilance at this time of year. Follow the link in the announcement on ktna.org for more information.

  • Live at Five – Music in the Park Talkeetna

    Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The band this week is Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise.

  • Garage Sale – Talkeetna

    There is a garage sale on Second Street in Talkeetna this weekend, July 12th and 13th, from 10am to 3pm. There will be 9 tables full of items including an accordion, sewing machine, 8 place table setting, and old nick knacks.

  • Green Light Circus Fairway Carnival – Denali Arts Council

    As part of the Green light Circus festivities, there will be a Fairway Carnival on Saturday, July 12th outside the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar from 12 to 4pm. This is a family friendly event.   • Roustabout Show Green Light Circus – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts the Green Light Circus Roustabout Show on Sunday, July 13th, at 2pm. Performed by the highly trained and talented instructors of the Green Light Circus. These artists bring their skills to the stage with aerial silks, juggling, unicycles, double lyra, Cyr wheel, and more. This is a family friendly show for all ages.     This Friday and Saturday, July 11th and 12th Denali Arts Council hosts the Green Light Circus's performances - The Time loop Troupe! This year, the circus is traveling through TIME. Expect gravity-defying acts, daring stunts, and time-bending surprises as local kids tumble through the ages. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. Tickets are only available at the door.
