    The Talkeetna Sunshine Gardening Club is starting up again at the Talkeetna Library. They will be meeting to discuss Transplanting Seedlings today, Tuesday April 14th at 5pm.     Denali Arts Council hosts The Singing Zoologist at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, April 16th. The Singing Zoologist, Lucas Miller, blends music, puppets and projected videos to keep audiences laughing, moving, singing and learning. This show family-friendly show is suitable for all ages. There will be pizza available, by the slice until it runs out, to make this a dinner-and-a-show type of event.   • DEA National Drug Take-Back Day – Matanuska-Susitna Borough

    The DEA National Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday, April 25th. There are two drop off locations available in the Susitna Valley from 10am to 2pm - at the Wasilla and Palmer Fred Meyers. All are welcome to drop off unused or expired medications in original packaging or a generic bag, without your personal information. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain tightly sealed in the original container. Syringes and medical waste cannot be accepted. Turning in unused medications reduces prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning, and protects local waterways and the environment.     Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program supports high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness, helping to build a stronger health workforce in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and beyond.

    The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors.
