    Here’s what’s coming up at the Talkeetna Public Library:

    • The Friends of the Talkeetna Library meet Friday, January 10th, at 1pm. A Zoom option is available. All are welcome.
    • Reading Mentors begins on Tuesday, January 14th from 3:15 to 4:15 pm. The program is for 2nd to 4th graders, and homeschoolers are welcome. Space is limited and preregistration is required, this can be done at Talkeetna Elementary School or Talkeetna Library, in person or by phone.
    • Staff are available to help file your PFD applications.

    The Willow, Trapper Creek and Talkeetna Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) host a Stop the Bleed Class on Saturday, January 11th from 1 to 3pm at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.     As part of  Talkeetna Community Schools, Kathleen Fleming will teach a one night class about observing our solar system on Thursday, January 16th from 6 to 8pm. Learn about seasonal changes in the night sky, the wandering planets, and the moon's movements. Suitable for adults and interested youths 10 years or older.     Susitna River Coalition begins their 2025 Winter Speaker Series with Angie Wade, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer and Culture & Historic Preservation Director with the Chickaloon Village. Angie will be discussing culturally modified trees, exploring how these trees carry significance for many Indigenous communities. This is a virtual event on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6pm.
