  • Community Gathering & Potluck- KTNA

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    We’re taking a trip down memory lane! KTNA is hosting a casual community gathering featuring a screening of the KTNA Millennium Concert from April 22, 2000. This footage was recently digitized, and we are excited to bring it back to the community 26 years after the original performance. We’ll be celebrating with a potluck, you are welcome to bring something to share… or just bring yourself! That’s from 7 to 9pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. We look forward to sharing this blast from the past with you all!

  • DEA National Drug Take-Back Day – Matanuska-Susitna Borough

    The DEA National Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday, April 25th. There are two drop off locations available in the Susitna Valley from 10am to 2pm - at the Wasilla and Palmer Fred Meyers. All are welcome to drop off unused or expired medications in original packaging or a generic bag, without your personal information. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain tightly sealed in the original container. Syringes and medical waste cannot be accepted. Turning in unused medications reduces prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning, and protects local waterways and the environment.   • Scholarship opportunity – Sunshine Community Health Center

    Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) Student Scholarship Program supports high school seniors pursuing degrees or certificates in health care, behavioral health, and social services by awarding scholarships of up to $2,500. These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement, and a dedication to wellness, helping to build a stronger health workforce in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and beyond.
    The application period is open and the deadline is May 1st. Eligible students must reside in zip codes 99676, 99688, or 99683.

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council is hiring an Administrative Manager. Full-time, must have strong organizational, office, and Excel skills, and enjoy teamwork and event coordination.   • Seeking Volunteers & Ideas for Discovery Days at Talkeetna Elementary

    Talkeetna Elementary School is hosting Discovery Days on Monday, May 18th through Wednesday, May 20th, from 9:00 to 11:15 AM, and they are looking for community volunteers. Discovery Days give students a chance to explore hands-on activities—from art and music to outdoor skills, STEM, and local business experiences.   • Emergency Preparedness Fair – CERT

    Willow Community Center

    The Willow, Talkeetna and Trapper Creek CERT host the 5th Biennial Su Valley Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Willow Community Center from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, May 30th, with education about preparedness for earthquakes, wildfires, floods, CPR, first aid, and backcountry safety. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits with family activities for all ages, including live demonstrations, an earthquake escape room, door prizes and vendors.   • Talkeetna Historical Society seeking artists

    Talkeetna Museum

    The Talkeetna Historical Society is seeking artists to decorate wooden salmon cutouts for their upcoming Salmon Run Art Auction fundraiser. The completed artwork is due by June 15th. Those who are interested may stop by the museum between 11am and 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays or call Autumn at (907)304-0321 to coordinate a pickup time.
