The Miles Broomsfield art show on October 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar has been canceled.

Denali Arts Council hosts Suraj Holzwarth, presenting her new book, Heart Like a Mountain on Friday, October 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, from 7 to 8pm. In 1979 at the age of 19, Suraj became the youngest woman to summit Denali. In her memoir, she shares a spirited account of the 30-day expedition which began in the Peters Hills, leading through some of Alaska's most remote wilderness before reaching Denali's Base Camp. Saraj will read from her book, present a slide show and will be available for book signings.

Saturday, October 11th is Denali Arts Council’s Take Back the Town party and annual meeting. This year's event is an autumn themed masquerade ball. The membership meeting, dinner, and elections start at 5:30pm. Attendees can vote on board members and renew their memberships. Following the meeting, the doors open to the public for the Denali Cooks and Friends at 7pm.

There will be a Road Service Area (RSA) 15 meeting on Monday, October 12th at 6:30PM. This will be an in-person meeting at Sheep Creek Lodge.

Love to write? Ellen Thea is hosting a meeting at the Talkeetna Public Library on Monday October 13th, at 6:30 pm. Anyone interested in creating and/or organizing an international Talkeetna Writer’s Festival is welcome.

Talkeetna Public Library's Reading Mentors program meets Tuesdays at 3:15pm. This program is for 1st through 3rd graders. Preregistration is required. Teen and adult mentor volunteers are still needed, please contact the library to learn about volunteering at 907-861-7645.

The Trapper Creek Community Council meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:30pm at the Trapper Community Center. The next meeting is October 16th. All are welcome to attend.

All members are invited to attend the monthly Auxiliary meeting at the Myron F Ace Ebling Post 3836 this Thursday at 7pm. Discussion will include planning for the annual Halloween Hat & Glove Giveaway, Veterans Day, and Scholarships.

The Annual Bean-a-Fit Soup Supper is this Friday, October 17th from 4:30 to 7:30pm at the Swiss Alaska. This event is a fundraiser for Bean’s Café in Anchorage.
