The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Denali Drama and the Music Academy presents the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday and Saturday October 24th, and 25th. Winner of the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, this hilarious musical follows six contestants in a spelling competition. The doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7pm. The Talkeetna Community Council's annual election takes place on election day, November 4th, at the Talkeetna Public Library. The deadline for a write-in candidate is 5pm today (Tuesday, October 28th). The Talkeetna Community Council represents the community as a means of citizen participation in local and State government issues, as well as providing a platform for various community services and development projects. The candidate is required to live within the Talkeetna Community Council area, more information at talkeetnacouncil.org.

VFW Post on Veterens Way in TalkeetnaDo you love Halloween but live in an area where you rarely get trick-or-treaters? You are invited to set up a station at the VFW on the grassy side of the parking lot for Trunk-or-Treat. Typically this involves setting up the back of a vehicle or a pop up tent, decorating it, and handing out treats. You may set up your station between 4 and 4:30pm on Friday, October 31st to prepare. The VFW typically sees the most trick or treaters between 4:30 and 7pm.

Denali Arts Council is hosting a youth song lyrics writing competition. Competitors must be under 18 and use the prompt: Pumpkin Pancakes. The winning song will be performed live at the Parlor in the Round performance and the songwriter will receive a scholarship. The submission deadline is November 1st.
