    Denali Arts Council is hosting a mask making workshop at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, October 5th from 1pm to 4pm. All supplies will be provided.   • Voter registration

    Talkeetna Public Library Talkeetna

    The Talkeetna Public Library is offering support to help people register to vote. The next election is on November 4th, which means you must register by October 5th in order to have your vote count. Help is available at the Talkeetna Library during open hours, 11am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday. Absentee in-person voting will be held at the library beginning October 20 through November 3rd.   • Wild Su Feast – Susitna River Coalition

    Denali Brewing Company

    The 9th Annual Wild Su Feast is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Denali Brewing Company, located at Mile 2 of the Talkeetna Spur Road. The event, hosted by the Susitna River Coalition, features a community potluck and cooking competition with foods that walked, swam, flew, or grew in the Susitna Watershed.   • Talkeetna Community Council Nominations for Board of Directors

    The Talkeetna Community Council Inc. Board of Directions is accepting nominations for 3, two-year term seats to be included on the November 4th ballot. Residents of legal voting age, eligible to vote in MatSu borough elections, and whose primary residence is within the Talkeetna Community Council boundaries are eligible. All nominees must complete a Declaration of Candidacy Form which is available at talkeetnacouncil.org.

  • Talkeetna Recycling Seeks Volunteers

    Talkeetna Recycling is seeking new volunteers. They are hosting volunteer training on Tuesday, October 7th, at 11:30am. Training is for both current and new volunteers.     Tuesday, October 7, the Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection is hosting a virtual Public Information Meeting regarding the revision of the Susitna Forestry Guidelines. The meeting will be on Microsoft Teams from noon to 1:30pm. Follow the meeting link in the announcement on ktna.org. The meeting will also be on the big screen at the Talkeetna Library.     Talkeetna Library's Breakfast Book Club meets this Wednesday morning at 9:30am in person and on Zoom. The selection this month is Sarah Birdsall's latest book, Hill of Dead Horses. All are welcome to attend; reading the book is not mandatory. The selection for November is West with Giraffes, by Lynda Rutledge, copies are available.

  • Heart Like a Mountain, Book Reading & Signing – Denali Arts Council

    Denali Arts Council hosts Suraj Holzwarth, presenting her new book, Heart Like a Mountain on Friday, October 10th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar, from 7 to 8pm. In 1979 at the age of 19, Suraj became the youngest woman to summit Denali. In her memoir, she shares a spirited account of the 30-day expedition which began in the Peters Hills, leading through some of Alaska's most remote wilderness before reaching Denali's Base Camp. Saraj will read from her book, present a slide show and will be available for book signings.

    Saturday, October 11th is Denali Arts Council’s Take Back the Town party and annual meeting. This year's event is an autumn themed masquerade ball. The membership meeting, dinner, and elections start at 5:30pm. Attendees can vote on board members and renew their memberships. Following the meeting, the doors open to the public for the Denali Cooks and Friends at 7pm.

  • Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails (MUTT) meeting

    Multi Users of Talkeetna Trails (MUTT) is having a volunteer meeting on Monday, October 13th at 5:30pm in the Beer Hall at the Denali Brew Pub, downtown to discuss the upcoming Dry Land Fun Race. The Dryland Fun Race is scheduled for Saturday October 18th at 11am in Talkeetna Lakes Park. The event offers human-powered and dog-powered races for distances of 5km and 8km for all ages .
