Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. The band this week is Cold Fusion.

Denali Arts Council hosts a Youth Art Show featuring art made during the Upper Susitna Fine Arts Camp on Saturday, August 9th from 3 to 6pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. There will also be a dance performance during the art show, at 5pm.

Sunshine Community Health Center hosts their 3rd annual Community Celebration on Saturday, August 9th from 10am until 3pm at the Talkeetna Clinic. This event includes a health resource fair, sports physicals and immunizations, mammograms, back to school supplies, live music, food trucks and vendors. The KTNA’s Board of Directors meets the third Monday of the month at 4:30pm at the station on 2nd Street in Talkeetna. The meeting scheduled for Monday, August 18th has been postponed. Denali Arts Council is holding open auditions for a musical comedy show called the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on August 18th at 7pm at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Be prepared by knowing your vocal range, prepared to sing at least 10-12 bars of any song, to do a bit of dramatic reading or improv. Must be available to rehearse during September & October.
