    There is Celebration of Life for Orville Grosz on Wednesday, July 23rd from 6 to 9pm at the Denali Brewing Company's Tasting Room, located at Mile 2 of the Talkeetna Spur Road.   • Summer Reading Program – Talkeetna Public Library

    The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program is on Thursdays

    • Today the Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm. This week’s theme is Fairy Houses and Woodland Dwellings. Also, the library is creating a rock snake named William Snakespeare. Supplies for rock painting are available to use in the building or to borrow to make a snake segment at home. Bring your segments in to get varnished and added to the sculpture.
    • Weekly meal backpacks, provided by Upper Susitna Food Pantry, are available at the front desk on Thursday afternoons until Saturday, or when supplies run out. These backpacks are available for children under 18 years of age to take home.

    There are 2 more weeks of activities and reading incentives, all ages are welcome to attend. All reading logs must be turned in by Noon on Thursday, August 7th. For more information, you may call the library at 907-861-7645 and visit their Facebook Page.

  • High Step Society – Denali Arts Council

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    Denali Arts Council is hosting the band ​High Step Society for an indoor/outdoor show at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, July 24th, with music beginning at 7:00pm. Based out of Oregon, High Step Society is a 7-piece band featuring horns, bass, synthesizer, drums and vocals. Tickets and more information about the band are available at www.denaliartscouncil.org

    Accepted electronics include microwaves, toasters, computers, printers, cables, and fluorescent bulbs. Not accepted are large appliances, smoke alarms, batteries, medical equipment, and anything containing liquids.

    Denali Arts Council and Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce host Live at Five, a family friendly music event at the Talkeetna Village Park, on Fridays at 5pm, rain or shine. This Friday the band is Braided River.

  • Talkeetna Historical Society’s Art Fundraiser

    Sheldon Community Arts Hangar

    The Talkeetna Historical Society hosts their closing event Salmon Run Art Auction at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Sunday, July 27th from 3 to 6pm. Visitors can view all salmon in person that are in the online auction and enjoy some snacks. There will be 4 late-run salmon auctioned off live at the event.  Online bidding is open through July 27th at 5 pm.  Help will be available at the event to participate in the online auction.     The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm today (Thursday). This week, Geologist Greg will be showing his new rock polisher and also talking about volcanoes. All are welcome to come and blow up a small volcano. The final day of the program is next week on August 7th.   • Talkeetna Community Council seeking a board member

    The Talkeetna Community Council is currently looking to fill one vacant Board member seat. Interested candidates can submit a Declaration of Candidacy available at talkeetnacouncil.org. The elected candidate will sit on the Board until the next election cycle in November. The candidate is required to live within the Talkeetna Community Council area; the map available on the council's website. Candidates will be accepted until the next meeting on August 4th at which the vote will take place.
