Community improvements selected for Trapper Creek

At the November 15 Trapper Creek Community Council meeting the voting results for Fiscal Year 2011 and 2012 Community Revenue Sharing Projects were decided. The community had the opportunity to vote on the projects and prioritize as they saw fit. Of the four projects proposed, three will be fully funded once the Mat Su Borough approves them. The three projects funded received the greatest support in the community’s vote.$32,000 will be used to purchase a John Deere 1026R sub-compact utility tractor with implements for year around maintenance of the Trapper Creek Community Park and Cemetery for many years to come.

• $3,700 will fund the design and creation of a web site for the Trapper Creek Community Council Website
• Just over $6,000 will purchase a Trapper Creek Welcome Sign from the North Approach. The price includes materials, labor, assembly, artwork, and erection of a Welcome Sign at mile 116 of the Parks Highway.

One proposed project did not get funded. Sunshine Transit had applied for funding for a Transit route service one day per week to Trapper Creek (with several roundtrips that day) in order to get residents to Cubby’s grocery and the health clinic.
