Two Fairbanks residents died in a head-on collision on the Parks Highway in Trapper Creek on Monday, according to Alaska State Troopers.
According to a statement posted online, Troopers say a southbound black Subaru Forester, operated by 38-year-old Fairbanks resident Sasha Hart, crossed the centerline and collided with a white Ford F-250 pickup truck headed the opposite direction. Hart and her husband, 41-year-old David Hart, were both pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS responders.
Troopers say a toddler in the Harts’ vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an Anchorage hospital.
The crash occurred in front of Trapper Creek’s Three Bears gas station and shut down the Parks Highway for nearly five hours, though traffic was able to detour through the gas station parking lot.
Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
