Clear skies are forecast for tonight’s sky watchers to get a glimpse of a partial eclipse. But you’ll have to get up early to see it. According to NOAA, A Penumbral Lunar Eclipse over Alaska, the U.S. West Coast and the Pacific Ocean will occur Wednesday morning and peak around 533 a.m. For about 30 minutes before and after the eclipse’s maximum, a light grey shading will be seen along the moon’s northern limb. Most of Alaska will have clear enough skies to view the eclipse.
The Geophysical Institute in Fairbanks has predicted high Aurora activity tonight as well. According to the forecast, Northern Lights displays should be visible from Barrow to Anchorage.
